Our story

The meeting of three complementary personalities, united by curiosity, creativity and friendship — and  a shared desire to democratize whisky.

Behind the glass

The alchemy between three passionate minds.

A distiller, a builder, an architect. Three different paths, one same conviction: whisky takes on its full meaning when shared.

Jean-François

Master distiller

Trained in a blend of tradition and experimentation, Jean-François holds a university degree in malting, brewing, and distilling from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, as well as a master’s degree in engineering from Polytechnique Montréal.

His career path led him from software engineering to cabinetmaking, and then to major Quebec breweries, where he co-founded a renowned distillery. Creator of numerous award-winning products, he combines scientific rigor with the freedom of a craftsman.

For him, whisky is a living material, to be explored and revealed with precision.

"Straight from the barrel."

Éric

The builder

A born entrepreneur, Éric bridges the gap between vision and reality. He transforms ambitious ideas into concrete, sustainable, and well-established projects.

Over the years, he has led and grown several companies with a pragmatic yet intuitive approach. He moves forward with precision, building on solid foundations.

For him, whisky is also about relationships—because ultimately, business is always about people.

A pragmatic visionary, he moves seamlessly from intuition to action. Authentic and deeply human, he builds relationships on trust—because, above all, business is about people.

"On ice."

Vicky

The Architect

A business lawyer, Vicky embodies the vision and guides the decisions. She designs, structures, and gives every dimension of the distillery a solid and sustainable foundation.

At the crossroads of strategy, experience, and purpose, she ensures uncompromising consistency. Positioning, relationships with the ecosystem, conviviality: no detail is left to chance.

For her, whisky is more than a product: it’s a language. A way to create meaning, to leave a lasting impression, and to unite people around a strong vision: to open wide the doors to the world of whisky and create simple moments of conviviality, to fully enjoy the best that life has to offer.

"With a few drops of water."

Our promise

More than a taste.
A moment.

What we promise you is more than just taste. It’s a whisky forged by time and audacity.

No compromises. No artifice. A whisky made for everyone, for the pleasure of gathering together.

Questions and answers

This is something we are often asked.

What led you to create this distillery?

A simple conviction: whisky deserves to be (re)discovered and shared by as many people as possible. Too long confined to a closed world, it deserved a distillery that celebrates its flavors as much as the moments it creates.

Curiosity. The desire to taste, to share, to build a place where everyone has their place. And the conviction that whisky is more than a product — it’s the quality of the moments it creates.

Democratizing fine whiskies. Opening up the world, inviting people to discover and appreciate them in their own way. Rigorous tradition, a rebellious spirit. No compromise on quality.

The observation is that many people like the idea of whisky… but don’t dare try it. Whisky today is perhaps what red wine was in Quebec in the early 80s: an unknown, inviting world where people took their first steps. WfE was born from this.

A culture of conviviality, where time stands still. A place where everyone enjoys themselves without inhibition — where whisky becomes the pretext for taking one’s time.

Three friends who are liberating whisky from its conventions without betraying tradition. To bring it back to the essentials: taking the time to connect, the pleasure of savoring and sharing.

To have changed the perception of whisky. To have brought new followers into the ranks of enthusiasts.
